     Hinigaran, officially the Municipality of Hinigaran, is a 1st class municipality in the province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 85,602 people.
The early inhabitants of this town were the semi-primitive people called "Mundos" and "Ambaks". When traders and settlers from Panay started moving in, the natives were driven to the mountains. The new settlers were called "Tagahigad" and when the Spaniards came the place was called "Ginigaran" from the word "higad" but it was later spelled and pronounced as Hinigaran.
The town was founded in 1765 and Captain Basilio Mongcal was appointed as the first president in 1806. Among its first settlers were the families of Mongcal, Lagtapon, Cosio,Sario, David, Orin, Pido, Pabalinas, Luntayao, Javier, Vargas, Lucasan, Grijaldo,and Dano-og—some of whom were from Panay.

How to get there:
  •     From South Ceres Terminal ride a bus going to Hinigaran. You can also ride (Isabela, Binalbagan, Kabankalan buses)

The washrooms was very clean, there seemed to be a dedicated person - very refreshing for tourists.Nothing beat's their buko pie. The price is affordable, approachable staff and food is delicious. Once you taste it you will surely want more!.

FESTIVAL

HINUGYAW  FESTIVAL       

       The Hinugyaw Festival is a weeklong celebration that culminates with a grand parade and street-dancing performers dressed in vibrant costumes. It's an annual thanksgiving festival that the people of Hinigaran hold every April 30."Hinugyaw" is a local term that means rejoicing or jubilation. Legend has it that a long-haired woman protected the town from an invasion of Moro pirates. The incursion was thwarted. The tales have it that the woman was no other than Saint Mary Magadalene. There was great rejoicing and celebration, thus, the term “hinugyaw.”
